History and Philosophy
Established in 1977 by the Assemblies of God of Singapore, the Assemblies of
God Bible College (formerly Bible Institute of Singapore) is committed to
providing men and women with a fulfilling education and to equip them to play
key roles in the rapidly growing Church and society. Through its experience,
AGBC is able to offer an innovative curriculum, with great flexibility and wide
selection, to help one transform his* calling into reality. AGBC has since
graduated over 100 ministerial workers who are now serving in diverse mission
fields in Asia, America and Australia.
AGBC is a place for men and women who are willing to deepen and broaden their
commitments to God. At AGBC, each one "encounters" God and seeks to fulfil
God's call.

Mission
AGBC exists for the primary mission of preparing men and women for Christian
leadership in order to fulfil the mission of the Church as outlined in
Ephesians 4:11-13. It provides a full-orbed curriculum of theological and
ministerial studies for those intending to serve the Lord effectively as
pastors, teachers, evangelists, missionaries or lay persons worldwide.
Objectives
AGBC aims to:
- Provide an institution of advanced learning for the Assemblies of God and others who share sympathetic views and desire admittance.
- Provide a Christ-centred, biblically-oriented curriculum which recognizes the Bible as the sole and authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
- Provide training within the distinctive Assemblies of God Pentecostal tradition, which recognizes the importance of declaring the whole counsel of God, including proper emphasis on the person and work of the Holy Spirit as revealed in the Word of God.
- Assist students in acquiring attitudes and skills which will prepare them for the Pentecostal ministry.
- Provide academic encouragement in order for students to develop lifelong research skills.
- Provide a spiritual environment in which students will have opportunities to develop the entire person as a man or woman of God, to increase their appreciation for biblical values and the importance of worshipping God in spirit and truth.
- Provide a mission and evangelistic emphasis which will encourage the students to cultivate a Christ-like concern for those without the knowledge of Christ's salvation.
- Encourage the development of a ministry that is socially and culturally relevant to the contemporary context.
Affiliation and Control
AGBC is the official ministerial training college of the Assemblies of God of
Singapore under the control of the College Management which is made up of
representatives from the Executive Committee, pastors and the laity. The
Administrative Committee oversees the day-to-day operations.
AGBC is also a chartered member of the Asia-Pacific Theological Association (APTA).
Accreditation
AGBC has gained international recognition for its excellence in teaching and
character building. It is the first Pentecostal institution in Singapore to be
fully accredited by the Asia Theological Association (ATA) to offer a Diploma
of Theology and a Bachelor of Theology degree.
Facilities
AGBC provides facilities for both full-time and part-time students. It has a rapidly expanding library of up-to-date theological books, journals and microfiche. The library is fully computerised to facilitate research.
Doctrinal Statement
AGBC subscribes to the statement of fundamental truths God.
We believe in:
- the divine inspiration of the Scriptures and its final authority for faith and conduct;
- the doctrine of the Trinity as contained in the Nicene Creed;
- the deity and atoning work of Christ;
- the bodily return of Christ which is the blessed hope of the Church;
- the universality of sin;
- the necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for personal salvation;
- the redemptive work of Christ on the cross which provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer;
- the baptism of the Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 for effective life and service;
- the necessity of sanctification; and
- the bodily resurrection of believers and unbelievers to eternal life and eternal death respectively.
