INTERNATIONAL APPLICANTS
Application for Admission
Applicants may write to the Registrar (admin@agbc.edu.sg) to request for the application forms, or simply download the forms from www.agbc.edu.sg.
All applicants are required to send a completed application form with the following items to Assemblies of God Bible College, 5B Guillemard Road, #03-00, Wing Fong Building, Singapore 399685:
• A non-refundable application fee of S$80. Bank drafts should be made payable to “Assemblies of God Bible College”.
• Two recent colour passport-sized photographs
• A photocopy of passport / work permit / S-pass / short-term social pass / long-term social pass.
• A copy of the secondary/post-secondary school education certificate (notarized and translated if not in English). This includes all official certificates and transcripts from previous schools (i.e. college, university and theological college). It is preferred that applicants’ former schools send the transcripts directly to AGBC. Alternatively, the original transcripts should be brought to AGBC for verification.
• Testimony of conversion
• Testimony of calling to full-time Christian service. If applicants do not have a full-time calling, they may have to give an account of their reasons and goals for pursuing theological education in AGBC.
• Three character reference forms are required. These should include a reference from the supervising pastor or leader of the church in which the applicant is worshipping, and 2 references from a friend, a colleague, or employer who knows the applicant for more than two years. Spouses, relatives, current students and staff are not acceptable references. The referees should send the character reference forms directly to AGBC. The names and full addresses of all the referees should be written on the application form so that AGBC will know from whom to expect the reference forms.
• TOEFL or IELTS scores. Applicants are required to take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or a comparable test of English proficiency prior to acceptance. It is the responsibility of the applicant to take the test and to arrange for the scores to be sent to AGBC.
• A completed medical form by a licensed medical practitioner with the Ministry of Health.
• Copies of documentary proof of the applicant’s financial ability such as a letter of sponsorship or bank statement
• Copies of documentary proof of sponsorship from a local church in Singapore
The Admission Committee will not consider application that does not have all the relevant documents mentioned above.
All completed applications must reach AGBC by July 1 to be eligible for matriculation in the first semester of the following year. Applications received after this date will not be considered for the forthcoming academic year.
Submission of application form and documents does not constitute automatic admission to AGBC. All applications will be subjected to review by the Admission Committee. The Admissions Committee will arrange for an interview with applicants. After the interview, the applicants will be notified of the outcome of his application by post or e-mail.
Application for Student’s Pass
Upon receiving the letter of offer from AGBC, the applicants need to send to AGBC an initial deposit equivalent to the fees required for first term of study as an acknowledgement of their acceptance of the offer within 14 days.
The Registrar will facilitate the student pass application procedure by registering the applicants for Student Pass application through ICA’s SOLAR+ system. The applicants’ particulars and the programmes are registered by the school. A SOLAR+ application number is generated through the process and given to the school. All these information will be conveyed to the applicant through e-mail.
The applicants are then required to login to the SOLAR+ system (http://www.ica.gov.sg) by keying in the exact information given by the school for the following fields:
1. SOLAR+ application number
2. Student’s name
3. Sex
4. Nationality
5. Date of birth
After login, the applicants are required to complete the data items in the electronic forms (Form 16 and Form V36) to submit their application for a Student’s Pass. Applicants are hereby cautioned that it is an offence under the Immigration Act to submit false statements, representations, or declarations in their Student’s Pass application.
Please note that a soft copy of a recent passport-sized photograph which meets the following requirements is needed for submission.
1. The photograph image must be taken within the last three months
2. The photograph should be in colour and must be taken against a white background with a matt or a semi-matt finish.
3. The photograph image must show the full face and without headgear.
Applicants need to print a copy of the eForms. If their applications are successful, they are required to submit a hardcopy of the eForms, duly signed by the applicants to complete formalities for the issuance of a Student’s Pass.
Please do not come to Singapore unless the Student’s Pass has already been approved. Applicants will be contacted via post and e-mail once the In-Principle letter of approval is received from ICA.
The applicants must bring with them all original documents to be presented to the ICA for verification. Where applicable a security deposit in the form of Banker’s guarantee may be required upon approval of the student pass application. All costs are to be borne by the applicants.
Note:
The Immigration and Checkpoint Authority of Singapore (ICA) require that all international students possess a valid student pass throughout the duration of their study. Immigration law forbids holders of Student’s Pass and long-term social visit pass to engage in any form of paid employment. A breach of the law may result in forfeiture of security deposit, cancellation of pass and repatriation.
